Do I have any fellow foodies out there?!
If you asked my husband what a perfect date night looked like, I can GUARANTEE you one thing- it would include delicious food. 😉 I remember the first time he planned an entire date day for the two of us in Atlanta. My husband is not known for his planning skills (that’s more my department!) and our daily itinerary was a bit scattered, but he had thoroughly planned each and every place we were going to eat our meals- even snacks! And you know what? He always sniffs out the most delicious places! So if you and your sweetie are food-lovers like us and hoping to spice things up with a fun date night, try one of these delicious date night ideas!
Like many date night ideas, sometimes a new food experience requires you getting out of your own comfort zone. Try going to a new restaurant that neither of you have been to and then ordering for each other. I even recommend explaining to your waiter what you are doing and writing your order for each other down on a piece of paper to give them at ordering time. That way when your food comes out it will be a complete surprise!
DISTILLERY OR BREWERY TOUR
If your sweetie loves craft beer almost as much as they love you, plan an excursion to explore one of the many breweries that are popping up everywhere! Many host regularly scheduled tours or you can call and request a private one. The great thing? With your tour fee, most distilleries and breweries automatically include a range of tastings and even some swag you can take home with you.
TAKE A COOKING CLASS TOGETHER
Sur La Table, William Sonoma, and even local colleges/culinary schools offer hands-on classes where you can learn to cook something new together. Whether they’re teaching you to bake French macaroons or just some basic skills, cooking classes guarantee a delicious experience that encourages teamwork and great conversation!
FOOD TRUCK TOUR
Some of my favorite things I’ve ever eaten have come from food trucks- incredible shrimp and grits, deep fried oreos, and don’t get me started on the amazing mac-n-cheese creations they seem to have! Pack a blanket, a bottle of wine, and set out for your nearest food truck park! With a variety of trucks to choose from, you can try something completely different for your appetizer, entree, and dessert. I’m all for date night ideas that let you eat your way around the world while never leaving your picnic spot!
ROLL THE FOODIE DICE!
Hands down, this is one of my favorites! I gave these Foodie Dice to my husband for Christmas last year and we love using them for a fun Date Night In. Roll the dice to obtain your meal’s ingredients, head to your local grocery to pick everything you need up, and then have fun in the kitchen improvising a completely new dish! If you’ve ever watched the Food Network show Chopped (it happens to be one of Nolan’s favorites) then think of this as a mini-version of that- just without the intimidating time limit or possibility of getting eliminated!
So there you have it! 5 date night ideas to spice things up and indulge your own inner foodie. I hope it’s utterly delicious!
